I have a recent 625-8. Have shot it about 1000 rounds in the past two months.
Started having some fail to fire/light primer strikes. Checked the strain screw and it was tight. On checking for crud in the frame etc. I found the strain screw had worn down into a mushroom shape. This would have reduced tension on the main spring and caused the light primer strikes.
Anyone else have a recent or older S&W with this problem?
I have contacted Smith & Wesson about getting a new screw. I'm wondering if this is a isolated problem or a recent factory heat treat problem that others will have as they shoot more.
Was A bit ticked when I found the problem and more so when I launched the new style hammer stirup across the room. I'm schooled on the old pinned parts.
I will state that I realy like shooting my 4 inch 625 DA. And its DA action is real nice out of the box.
