I'm relatively new to rifles. I'm mostly a pistol guy. I had a Marlin model 60 .22 that I'd take to the range occaisonally, but transported between safe and range in the box it shipped in.

Now, however, I've invested in a CZ 452 with a beautiful wood finish that I'd really like to protect. I've looked at rifle cases at my LGS and they all seem to be a rough nylon interior, soft-exterior case.

So, I'm looking for some recommendations for a decent rifle case/bag/sleeve/sock that I can use for transporting back and forth to the range maybe a couple of times a month at most. I'd like it to protect the finish even on long hikes through the woods if necessary. And I'd like for it to not cost as much as my rifle.

Am I just making a big deal out of nothing? Will the the typical nylon case be just fine to protect the finish? Should I just buy a decent rifle sock to put over the rifle before putting in the case?

Thank you from a rifle newbie.

Let your budget be your guide. $20 to $500 for a hard case and as little as $10 for a used soft case. I use the cheap plastic hard cases for transport along with soft cases on the bench.
