I have no details, if you're watching the 24/7 news channels you know as much as I do. Apparently, a Ca. bound flight was diverted to Denver, Co. after a passenger claimed to have a bomb and was "subdued by passengers". I hope this means stomped into a slippery spot on the carpet, but it bodes well for we Americans that common sense is alive and well in some corners and there are those among us who are no longer willing to comply and do nothing in the mane of some elusive and never defined feeling of moral superiority for being a willing victim.

Here's to those who protected themselves and their loved ones. Here's to those who possibly protected some on the ground.

United Airlines Flight Diverted to Denver

DENVER — A passenger who claimed to have a bomb aboard a United Airlines flight was subdued by passengers as the California-bound plane was diverted to Denver International Airport, airport officials said.

Two F-16 fighter jets from Buckley Air Force Base scrambled to escort the plane as it flew into Denver Friday, according to Lt. Commander Sean Kelly, a spokesman for NORAD.

"They followed to make sure nothing untoward was going to happen," he said.

Jose Manuel Pelayo-Ortega was arrested after the plane landed around 4:30 p.m., FBI spokeswoman Monique Kelso said.

Three Secret Service agents traveling between assignments who happened to be on the plane helped detain the passenger, said Secret Service spokesman Eric Zahren.

After the A-320 Airbus landed, it taxied to a remote part of the airport where the passengers got off and were bused to the terminal.

None of the 138 passengers or six crew members was injured, airport spokesman Chuck Cannon said. The flight was headed to Sacramento, Calif., from Chicago.

Authorities searched the aircraft for explosives and re-screened luggage and passengers before they reboarded the plane, which took off for its original destination around 7:30 p.m., Kelso said.

I wonder if they were packing?

Re: I wonder if they were packing?

My understanding is that federal agents are at least strongly encouraged to carry when flying. Since they were travelling for work, I expect they were. According to an FBI agent that I talked with, their superiors will not look kindly if something (like this for example) happened while they were on the plane and they were not carrying at the time.

Any federal special agent may carry nowadays. Just show badge & ID (and mebbe proof that the carry course for in-flight was taken - it may be a presumption because every federale is given that course nowadays) & you keep your gun.

What happened aboard that flight is not at all surprising and in fact, its to be expected since no red blooded American is going to idly sit by and allow the cockpit to be stormed or a flight attendent be injured. Planes can still be taken down by terrorists, but not the way it was done in 9-11. Kudos to those folks. BTW, if this had happened in the Workers' Paradise, Commie China, the "people" would have beaten the begeezus out of the culprit(s) and once on the ground, the police would have hauled them off the plane, feet first, allowing their head to bounce on each step on the way down.

Who in their right mind would say "I have a bomb" on a plane full of Americans at a time like this?

Sheep? More like wolves in sheepdog attire.
Interested to see how this plays out; were the Feds the primary anti-agressor force, or did they jump in after the fact and then claim credit for the take-down?

Wrong. The fighters followed the airliner to shoot it down in the event it had been taken over by Islamic terrorist savages.

No kidding what's better 200 dead or 4 thousand when it goes into a high rise?

Lie? untword action means they head for a high rise. what else can be done at that point?:banghead:

It was not a lie

It was 'government-speak.'
Have you ever heard a govt. agency say anything that cuouldln't be said simpler and faster by almost anyone?

What I meant by "sheep".

Seems to be some confusion who I was refering to when I said "sheep". I was meaning the general population on the airplane, those who normally defer any violent response to the delegated authority. They fought back instead.

You guys need some sensitivity training. Poor Jose probably tried the cockpit door 'cause he couldn't read English on that Lavatory door! Or maybe he was gonna hijack it for the Mexican Air Farce.
