Today in Springfield Missouri we got about 8-10in snow with 15-25mph winds. It was in the single digits and wind chill was 0°.
I wanted to get out and do some long range .22 shooting to make myself a better rounded shooter instead of just no wind fair weather shooter.
The dogs went with me and about 23 round down range my magazine bearded up and the round appeared stuck in the mag not feeding. I pulled the mag out and 2 rounds flew out of the mad into the snow and gone I said "damn it" Charlie our mutt dog (on the right was playing of behind me immediately ran over to me and layed on my lower back butt area and after a couple minutes he made a noise to Pistol the lab/pit mix (on the left) pistil then cane right over and layed on my legs for the remainder of the shooting. I assume they thought I was in trouble and were keeping me warm.
Just wanted to share how awesome dogs are even if they are strays like both of these guys are dumped in the country to be adopted by us.

And I thought it was really unbearably cold playing golf this morning when the temp dropped to 43.

Anyway, not bad shooting for those conditions, and it's always good to have a couple of loyal dogs to help out.

To be honest it was cold walking out to the range which was a little over a .5mi walk but one I was shooting wasn't bad at all. And where the dogs were laying was warm.
definitely not my best shooting but with how hard the snow was coming down and how hard the wind was blowing I guess 2.25MOA @ 300 yds isn't horrible. I was shooting CCI Blazer

That IS awesome. I love to winter camp, and would like to have the opportunity to camp and shoot stuff. Sadly, the state parks in MN frown on that kind of recreation.

Well I don't know how long I would camp out in this but I do know I have a coyote hunting trip this month for a weekend but who knows what the weather will be like...I mean it is Missouri and it changes by the hour

A good eye opener on how real world shooting can be - you've got a 6" square bright red target with a white background at only 300yds and it is almost invisible. Imagine if it was trying to hide!

Kudos to you Futurerider. I didn't even want to get out and shovel the drive. Cold weather just moving in for us. High tomorrow is below 0F.

Nasty cold in IL too.... windchills somewhere around -40 this morning! The good side of that is I get to work from home. The dog story is cool - they are great fun.

Im itching to get out and shoot one of these days though. Between duck season (over now), moving and vacation, I accidentally let my range membership expire. Im looking forward to getting out shooting, cold or not, once my membership renews.

OK. I give up. Is it in the snip I took of the original picture (somewhere in the circle I inserted)? If not, my eyes have gotten worse than I thought.

Here is an easier pic to see. The far left target is a 8in counter weight swinger then there is a rack of knock down targets (all knocked down .22 just makes noise on these) then a solid plate. The red box was on the first knock down on the left
