Any of you So. Fl. guys know about this? I am A member of this range. I wanted to go out to shoot yesterday so I went online to check shooting times and found their site gone. I did find some discussions about their closing No real answers. When you call the phone rings busy.
I am A member only because my former gun range lost our range and had to disband the club. We made A deal to merge with S. Fl. shooting. In the deal they got our equipment and treasury . Now we aparantly have nothing.
Anyone heard anything?:banghead:

No I did not. It is A 60 Mile trip from here.
I did find their website it only says they are closed and to enter your Email addy for further info. have yet to hear from them.
You would think they could have notified paid members of their closing.

It's in Indiantown Fl. they had trap and skeet rifle and pistol ranges and cowboy shoots. On A huge piece of property pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

There are/were all kinds of rumors about why they were shut down. I heard it was over code violations and tax problems. I do know the land was zoned for agriculture only. I live about 60 miles south of J&G Outfitters which was a tad to far to go shooting. But sorry to see it go.

We have similar problems up here in Central Florida. Despite the Florida Law that protects ranges, there is a lot of pressure to close them because of encroachment due to over population.

I heard on the news that for the first time in decades, more 'RESIDENTS' moved out of Florida than moved in last year. However, it was overwhelmed by the number of illegal immigrants that 'moved' here. They are counted separately. So the population still is climbing dramatically.

What the population encroachment won't do to ranges, the EPA and tree huggers will.

Just came back from 3 weeks on a ranch I bought in Texas. Was able to shoot right out front. Heard distant shooting the whole three weeks.

The local grocery store has the best display of mounts I've ever seen.

The sky was so clear I saw the space station going by without a telescope.

Its hard not to just packup now and go there full time.

Just heard about this - bummer. Was hoping to head over there tomorrow morning but I guess not. Why can we not have a decent outdoor public range in this area? Driving an hour and a half to Markham just is not an option . . .

More recent update: Link

Looks like we are out of luck. I wonder the folks that were running it - they were great and it was always a pleasant place to shoot. I hope they did not take too much of a financial hit having to close down.

there are still several outdoor ranges in central florida. Chuluota Sportman's Club, for example.
