I’m a left handed shooter!

1. I’m considering purchasing a Colt New Agent 45ACP. Can the agent it be fitted with ambidextrous thumb safety?

2. I also already own a Springfield Armory 1911 A1. I see there are a variety of ambidextrous thumb safeties available from Midway and Brownells. Do any of you experienced southpaw shooters have a recommendation? Is the installation difficult?

All advice is welcome!

Moving this to Autoloaders.

As to the installation it's not particularly difficult if you have a good understanding of how the 1911 comes apart and goes back together. Normally you will also have to grind out some relief area in the right grip panel unless you buy another set of grips with the relief already cut.

I'm pretty sure the New Agent uses standard fire control pieces so parts availability shouldn't be a problem.

You don't even need a relief cut if you use the kimber style safety, the right side safety is held on by a rimmed pin.

I installed an ambi safety on a Colt that I had redone a year or so ago. I wanted to stay with the original look that the Colt safety had so I got a 1911 AUTO AMBIDEXTROUS SAFETY by MUESCHKE from Brownells.
While I was deciding what I wanted to do with this gun I read some comments concerning the MUESCHKE safety on a couple of the forums. Some good, some not so good. The MUESCHKE has an additional pin that really seems to make it solid. I bought one and I did have it installed by my local smith. I have no complaint. It is everthing I wanted it to be so far.
Here's a pic of the right side of the gun with the MUESCHKE installed.

I have used these on 2 officers 1911's and worked fine for me The agent will take any brand But I would get a slim one to retain the conceal ability .
I have a Agent and Defender Both great pistols I carry the Defender more as its older and a trusted friend. Agent gets time but just not as much.
