They use 9mm Largo, which is a bit longer than 9mm Luger. IIRC, 9mm Largo is about as long as a .38 super round and about as powerful as 9mm Luger. You may be able to have it rechambered or rebarreled for 9mm Luger to have a more common ammo (not sure on that one).
Judging from the condition it is listed as having (poor bore and needing major work) I'd pass and try to find one in better shape.
From what I have read they are neat little guns though - kind of like a scaled down mauser that fires a pistol round.

or if you want a pistol caliber boltgun you can convert a mauser or enfield with a rhineland arms kit.

these fire 45acp rounds from a 1911 magazine out of a rebarreled mauser m98 or lee enfield.

their old site is down and theyre temporarily at www.troupsystems.com

9x23 Largo slings a 125 grain FMJ at ~1,350 FPS. Quite a bit better than 9x19. The Destroyers are some handy and accurate little carbines. I traded one off last year because I really had no use for it.

I thought it was a small ship for sale. That might be fun, if I could afford the slip fees and maintenance costs.

Alright thanks guys, yeah I'm gonna pass on this one, but I think I'm going to look for a better example. Keep your eyes peeled for me. You know I think my Astra 400 shoots 9mm Largo. Gonna go dig it out.

Astra 400s Shoot Largo

Yes, they do. Most of them were chambered for Largo, anyway, and I think a few have been chambered for 9mm Luger.

I need another Spanish Destroyer carbine....anybody seen one for sale (the one at the beginning of the thread's gone :banghead:)?

Honest.... I'd be happy to trade my 6.5 Swedish 96 for one...

9MM Destroyer

The cute little rifle was issued local police and customs officers. When I was assigned to Rota, Spain in the early 70's it seems ever cop I saw had one or a sub-gun with a long barrel.

Hell in the details

I have one, and they're awesome little carbines. The problem is a lot of them got imported and promptly broken by people using 9mm Parabellum, which (since it's a straight-wall cartridge) screwed up the extractors and or broke 'em in other interesting ways.

Right now they're averaging $300+ in decent shape.
