I can only think of three "speed" methods of carrying spare ammo for a J-frame: the HKS speedloader, the Safariland Comp I speedloader and the Bianchi Speed Strip. Taking into consideration that I use my J-frames as BUG's, I like the Comp I for pocket carry when I'm using a covering garment with side pockets, but usually just stick a Speed Strip in my pants pocket.

I used the HKS with my M36 Smith. One thing to remember is to check function if you have oversize grips. Speed loaders may not be so speedy in that case.

Safariland work best for me: easier to release than having to twist. Both are good speedloaders.

I like Safariland Comp I for speed and ease of use. But they are lumpy, not convenient to carry, so get left home a lot.
I like Bianchi Speed Strips because they are flat and easier to conceal. But they should be called Bianchi Convenient Carry strips, cause they ain't speedy
They also get left home a lot because pockets are full of change, keys, billfold, and a S&W 360.
I most often end up carrying extra ammo, when I carry extra ammo) on a belt slide.

I've always preferred the S.L. Variants for my 5 shot and my 7 shot. Similar to Comp III's, they require a "push" to load versus the "twist" of the HKS loaders.
The angle that the round sits in the loader can be adjusted for fine tuning.
They're pricey, but I think they're worth it.
Speedstrips work well and carry pretty easy in a pocket.

Of the two I prefer HKS overall for their durability. Not that the Safarilands break easily, but the HKS's are that rugged.

On the contrary,
I don't find the Comp I to be too bulky for pocket carry even in jeans. I prefer it to the HKS by a wide margin. Of course, the Bianchi Convenient to Carry Strip is always on-hand, also.

I have more faith in the HKS speed loader. The thing I like best about revolvers is reliability. It doesn't seem quite right to me that I have an EXTREMELY reliable revolver but I might conceivably have these 6 or 12 or 18 extra rounds and they're stuck in a speed loader. I know it ain't likely, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

The Safariland Comps are very user friendly, just push down into cylinder and they pop free, no twisting. They are also a bit shorter than the HKS model. But the HKS is a good unit, just a tad slower, IMHO.
