ok, so some may know, I went out and to save myself from being thrown out of the gun store, I bought a rifle and case of .22's

Anways, I know nothing about this gun! I cant find much info, and I see guns like it in differnent configurations or loading systems on gunsamerica.com (saw a single shot version with target sights, as well as a tube fed version with a scope rail)... so lets get to solving this mystery! I'll even make it a contest

Here's what I know:

tag was what I previously thought said "ruger" but was in fact "ranger" <bad handwriting, not my fault!>
The Model # is 103
It has a pinhole rear sight with lots of adjustability
it has a detachable magazine (or clip for some of you CS guys)
bolt action
.22lr
Looks oooold
Wood and metal in amazing shiney condition
no sling studs
no magazine (doh!)
the cocking handle looks to be chromed
not very big, not very heavy

Anyways, I was hoping to solve the mystery identity of my gun and locate a magazine or two.

*looks at you* Are you up to the challenge?

The master gumshoe will be rewarded with the sweetest of rewards! a cookie!

Does the rifle look like this? If so, what you have is a Marlin Model 80 that was sold by Sears as the model 103.

I wouldn't judge those old rifles by their monetary worth. I have an old Remington .22 that my father bought when he was young, that is by far one of the most accurate guns I have ever shot. The thing is not worth much, but it I prefer to shoot it more than my brother's 10/22. In terms of accessories, I have no idea; I would google Marlin Model 80 and see what comes up, or just email Marlin and ask them what type of rings it takes.

Is my gun worth anything?
My first rifle was a Marlin Model 80C, which my father gave to me for my thirteenth birthday.

I gave the same rifle to my granddaughter for Christmas last year. She was nineteen years old then. It is the first rifle she ever fired.

The look on her face when she opened the package was priceless.
