Hi everyone, bought a brand new spikes tactical M4 Le. Took it to a friends house to put some rounds down range. Shot sixty rounds with at least ten stopages. Rounds were not going all the way into the chamber, failure to fires. No ejection problems. When i manually cycle rounds through it, the cases and actual bullet get deeply scratched and the chamber fills with brass shavings. I am using Pmags with XM193. What the hell is going on? :banghead: Contacted spikes, all they said was we are sending you a new upper, when you get it, send the old one back.

Spikes does have great customer service, just wondering why the bad rifle is malfunctioning

Might be headspace problem or something out of spec. If they are sending you a new upper, who cares try the new one send the old one back. Warrenties are sweet. As far as mags go My Bushmaster likes the Pmags and standard military issue with green followers. I suggest always look for green followers. Just my .02

Wait until you see how the new upper performs before you get all bent out of shape.

Yeah, what he said:D. If they have another on the way, you'll be up and running in another day or two, no big deal. I shot my new Spikes again on the 4th, and I'm REALLY liking this rifle.

also, don't worry about the scratches. they normally come from you extracting them from the chamber, not inserting them. try this: take a new unscratched round and load it (while observing the 4 rules). now SLOWLY pull back on the charging handle while you extract it. As soon as you can see the case, stick your finger in there and hold the case straight, countering the spring pressure of the ejector which would otherwise push the bullet into the receiver extension lugs, scratching it. once the bullet has cleared the receiver extension, remove your digits and inspect the projectile.

Haha, "all they did was send me a new upper...". How can you be dissatisfied when they immediately sent out a new product to you as soon as they received your complaint? They didn't even wait for you to send yours in. You wouldn't get that much from most manufacturers.

Sounds like one slipped by QC. Glad they took care of you and that the new one works properly.

BTW did it really take them from July until now to get it to you, or did you get busy?

Another example of the "flakes."

Years ago Frank Zappa did a song about "flakes". Folks who receive money and do not do a good job in exchange.

Anymore, with any US made firearm, I presume I will have to send it back for some latent flaw which would have been discovered had they engaged in any rudimentary form of QC.

So tempted am I whenever I buy a firearm to take it from the gun store down to the UPS depot and ship it, so sure am I that there will be a problem with it. It is downright discouraging.

Sorry for your disappointment.

I wouldn't apply that standard to only American made firearms, there is a pretty good list of imports that have the same issues.

In fact, manufacturing defects and issues have been a problem forever, it's just that now we have the internet to bring every single instance to our attention.
