Hello, I have a L. A. Jensen, Spiller & Burr Reproduction... Serial number in low 30's, 44 cal., and really great shape....Does anyone have any idea as to what the value would be?

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Thought I had seen everything, but all the Spiller & Burr reproduction revolvers I've seen were .36 caliber. The name, L. A. Jensen I assume is the importer? It doesn't ring a bell. The last S & B I sold a month ago was $ 225.00 used.

No....L.A. Jensen was one of the first to reproduce the S & P, and in the good Ol' U.S.of A.He began production sometime in the early 50's...He made his in ..44 cal so everyone would know it was a repro....From what I have been able to gather to this point they're scarce as hen's teeth, some say fewer than 100 ever made.

I just bought a very nice used one in .36, CAL made buy UBERTI for $215.00 shipped.

I said I bought it used. it was made by FILLIPIETTA, my mistake when I said UBERTI. it has a mfg. code of BC- made in 1993. yes $215.00 shipped.

TOMMYGUN, not a problem. I too have read posts to fast and skipped over posts.

I saw the one you picked up a couple weeks ago, and since someone else obviously bid it up with you , that leaves plenty of room for argument that you got it for what it is worth. Personally I was surprised at the price it commanded, but I ignorantly thought Jensen was just an importer, never considered they could be a manufacturer. Let alone a US manufacturer.

That's very cool. They're supposed to be very well made, very rare, but they're obscure enough that I don't know that there's much demand. If I auctioned one I'd use a high start price rather than hope two people who were both interested found the item at the same time.

Just for context a new Pietta replica from Dixie runs $275. Last I checked Dixie was the only place that had them.

Being from Virginia, I have friends and family that belong to NSSA. I already have offers that would double my investment. I just do not want to short change myself or the buyer.

I'll carry it to a gun show or two, to see what happens....I'm probably going to have to send it off to Blue Book for appraisal.
