I picked up a bunch of 45 Colt Brass (mentioned in another thread).

There were also some reloads with it.

After looking at the reloads (with NO intention of shooting), I saw that 7 of 12 were cracked from the mouth down past the loaded boolit.
The split cases are all 3 IMPACT D.

The label on the box had the load info & date of 1995.

I have wet tumbled the fired cases and they look fine.

They are mixed flavors, with several of the 3 IMPACT D cases.

There are about 150 cases total.

I do not know the history of these cases.

Should I pitch all of the cases... just the IMPACTS..... ?

Load a few & looks for issues?

Brass is cheap compared to my new toy.

I would appreciate any insight or education.

Thank you!

Just load the rest of them and do your due diligence inspection. A split case in a revolver isn't going to hurt anything.

Hope this helps.

Choot'm!

They will either split on the next firing, or split when you size and expand them.

Neither will hurt a thing.

Just sort them out then, and toss them.

Split necks are not a big deal. Won't hurt anything. Just toss them when you see it happen, but even if you miss one and shoot a round with a split neck it shouldn't cause any huge problems.
