I'm going to gander mountain on Wednesday to trade in a scope I got for x-mas (dad forgot I had one) and use the money along with a gift cart to purchase a spotting scope. My price range looks to be about $60-$80. So can anyone make any recommendations? I'm looking for a low to medium power scope with tripod mostly for checking shot grouping. My main concern is durability, I want something that will last and stand up to trips, cold/hot weather and rain/humidity. Variable power would be preferable and if it comes with a case that would be great. Are there any models, brands or features I should look for? Are there and models, brands and features I should avoid?

Thanks for any help.

Boy, I can't recommend anything in your price range. The only thing that I can add to this is the fact that I've seen many other folks buy an inexpensive spotting scope only to buy another, slightly more expensive scope, and then again buy a slightly more expensive scope than the previous one, and so on, instead of spending more up front to get what they really want.

Good luck.
