I am considering buying one, anyone care to comment? Would like to know reliability & accuracy. I want this for range plinking,9mm is cheap ammo, and I allready reload for my .45 ,would like to just shoot and pitch the brass for once. Thanks... JDGray

They are quite common in IDPA Enhanced Service Pistol Divison.

Since they are mass produced, accuracy and reliability run from great to, well, let's say "improvable."
Mine did very well with only a trigger adjustment on the factory parts and a little work on the barrel's integral ramp to make it a feed ramp. Shot about 10 MOA. That sounds like a lot but is 2.5" at 25 yards, not bad for stock barrel and bushing, and fine for IDPA. I know of one that was refitted and will do that at 50 yards.

Mine has been extensively modified since then, but that was as a project gun not much related to what you get from SA.

Fun pistol to shoot. Decent accuracy, reliable. Rough machining from the factory, doesnt hurt the function but powder residue sticks in there a little more than it would on a polished surface.

Triggers seem a little stiff, but that is a personal preference issue. If you dont like the trigger pull, get a smith to work on it.

Good sights (fixed, no experience with the adj sights) with a standard cut (Novak) so aftermarket sights are easily obtainable.

Unless you get the Brownells dealer disount, order extra mags with the coupon that comes with the gun, you'll save ~50%.

Be carefull or you may find that your .45 stays at home a lot more often than you would think.... :)

SA "Loaded" 9mm

Waited 6 mos. for mine. Obviously high expectations. Was the most poorly fitted, half assed "Name" 1911 I've ever owned or shot. Suppose it is the odd/isolated incident. In retrospect I'd spend several hundred dollars more and get a Baer P-ll, or a few hundred more and get an STI. Good luck.

I've seen a couple at IPSC shoots, I was less than impressed with the slide to frame wobble. I would spend the extra dollars and get an STI Trojan. I know it's a big chunk of change, but satisfaction over the years from better shooting should make up for the initial outlay.

Get one from before the days SA was making the "Loaded" line.

I have a blue SA 9mm 1911 that has to be about 10 years old and the fitting and quality is all top notch.

Of course, I immediately started customizing it with a short trigger, an action job, target sights and the like. Nice zebrawood grip panels too.

But my SA 9mm 1911 shoots 1" groups at 25 yards (if I do my job) with softball 147 grain handloads.

Look for an older one. Got mine about two years agin for $400 cash private sale. Love mine!
