What is a TRP and a TRP Operator? How about just an Operator?
Are these the same gun?
What is a real world price?
Any recommendation for a 1911 in the same price range that be a better deal? I read on 1911forum a couple of opinions that the TRP was a great value. I'm not a member just yet decided to ask a second opinion. Thanks.

Maybe a link to an explanation...the actual website doesn't say really. I'm thinking these are models that are no longer offered. Like the Proffesional?

The Professional is still available. The issue is are you willing to wait up to one year for your order.

I bought mine used about 6 months ago right here from the Classifieds. So far of my 14 1911's, arguably, the best 1911 buy I have made to date. But they ain't cheap.

Try the Springfield Armory's Site.

Go figure.

Okay here we go the Operator is basically a Loaded model with a rail and Armory Kote finish. A TRP is the Loaded with more custom features such as front strap checkering, mag well, and armory kote. The TRP operator is the same as the TRP but with a rail. So "operator" is Springfield's term for tactical rail. Also note the TRP lineup is a more affordable alternative to the FBI Professional model. If I had the money I would definetly get a TRP but the used Kimber Tactical I found had the same features for half the price. Good luck!

the TRP is a production line piece, the Professional comes out of their Custom Shop...it's like the difference between the S&W 1911 models and their Performance Center models

Just a note on the checkering on the TRP - its pretty rough and alot of people dont like it. I think they use 20 lpi. So pick one up before you buy!

I made that mistake I bought one off gunbroker and I don't like the checkering on the front strap. I've been thinking about selling it and getting a DW CCO or S&W Compact ES. Some people really like that checkering, it's defiantly not going to slip in your hand.

The checkering is a bugger to your fingers. You can dress it down with a stone on the stainless ones so it is not so sharp.
