Looking for a versatile new EDC and am intrigued by these two. I am a fan of Kershaw and own a Tanto blur w/serrations, but I want a good plain edge and would like to try the S30v.
I like the blade shape, price and feel of the Blur. Assisted open is cool, but it has the potential to make people nervous and it might be time to try a good manual open knife. On the downside, the Blur is a real pocket eater and the thumb stud is sharp and gets hung up on things.
With the Para 2, I like the blade shape and steel. The weight is nice and the tip looks good and sharp. The lack of recurve should make the blade easier to sharpen than the Blur. Drawbacks are the thumb hole (don't care for that look), and it costs a touch more than the Blur.
If your choice is one of these two, which would you pick and why? Uses are boxes, light wood work (no battoning), and other light to medium chores.
