So true. I see lots of squirrels when I'm deer hunting, but when I come back for the squirrels after deer season I wonder where they all went. Lol

Sounds like yesterday morning when me and another member here went on a squirrel hunt.

Perhaps moved on to another food source if the nuts etc have dried up?

Did he teach you to run around to the other side of the tree when you did it?

Yes and no. When I was younger I was a tree kid. Then as I got older he taught me the bark. Both are effective.

I've had it happen on the same day. No deer moving but counted 17 squirrels within sight at the same time. Let it quiet down, take the bow home, grab the .22 and head back. Jumped 4 deer and never saw another squirrel the whole evening.

Maybe I needed one of those calls?

Maybe start packing a decent pellet pistol? When deer hunting. Not sure if it’s legal or not.

I've been bring a sling shot, nothing fancy just a daisy m16 when deer hunting. Of course the day I forget it when I switched out to my light pack like 3 squirrel come within 10 feet of me. I'm not very good with it but at least I can scare away squirrels barking at me.

I too bring a wrist rocket sling shot to my deer stands. I use .44 caliber lead balls for ammo and out to 15 yards or so I can keep all hits in a beer can. I have come home many times from deer hunting with 2-5 squirrels in my pack.
