I'll be in the area next week and would like to go plinking while I'm there. I've never been down that way before, but from what I hear there's a ton of open land. I'm familiar with Utah state law, but not the local area. Any one from around there have any suggestions for me?

I don't know much about the area, just that you pretty much come into St. George from nowhere and that's where you leave to. :p
Prepare for the heat, it was 114 when I was through there in August.

I was born in St. George and though when I was there there was a measly 25,000 people (compared to the 100k+ now) there is still plenty of places to go. Which side of town do you live on? If you are on the south side of town near the walmart then pretty much anywhere out of city limits is good to go. However the turtle reserve could have grown since I was last there, so know that it is legal to hunt on the turtle reserve but not to target shoot. (I know. Only a liberal could come up with such strange backwards thinking. Thank Clinton for that.) I was just there two weeks ago and my cousin and I went up past the turkey farms since he lives in middleton. Find directions to the turkey farms and instead of turning off to go the turkey farms keep going straight. There is some good jack rabbit hunting up there and that road will take you up over the mountain and into diamond valley. My dad and cousin get deer up that road all the time. They aren't big deer but the shoot for meat. However here is a picture of the deer they have in that area.

If you want any more ideas of where to go just pm me and I can send you a google map of the areas I go to.

Thanks for the replys, I'm about 8 miles north of town just off of highway 18.
