Anyone here have any experience with Stag Arms AR-15 rifles/receivers?

As I'm in California, I'm looking at building an AR rifle based on the FAB-10 lower (internal, fixed 10 round magazine...stupid laws :barf: ), and the left-handed upper receiver from Stag looked really nice, as I'm left handed.

Sure, with the right-ejecting uppers now, nothing ever hits my face and it's not unpleasant to shoot. The only issues I've had is with the magazine release and the selector switch. If those could be reversed (selector on the right, mag release on the left), I would be very pleased indeed.

I'm not sure if it's possible to modify a FAB-10 lower to accept Stag's ambidextrous mag releases and selectors, but it would be something to look into.

That said, I'm shaking my fist in anger -- AIM Surplus as stripped Stag lowers for $99. My local FFL has a stripped FAB-10 lower for $300. Something about paying 3x the price for less functionality annoys me. :fire:

My friend built his AR15 on a stag and has had zero problems with it whatsoever. The fit and finish were fine and the lower parts went on just fine. He sang so many praises for it that I've decided to build my first AR off of a stag lower. Being as that I've never had another manufacturer's lower to compare it to, I may not be the best judge, but my stripped lower looks damned good. Can't wait to pick up the pieces and put this one together.

from a dealer's standpoint.....

Stag is charging about $20 less for their complete Stag-15 (right handed model) than what Bushmaster is charging for their M4A3.

that being said i can sell Bushmaster's all day long for $20 more than I can a Stag.

not knocking Stag's quality, but I am just saying that Stag does not have as prevalent of a name as Bushmaster in the AR-15 business.

in regards to just a stripped lower, yes, i think they put out a competitive product for the price.

If those could be reversed (selector on the right, mag release on the left), I would be very pleased indeed.
Do a search at brownells for "norgon." Its an ambi mag release, however I think it cost somewhere between 80 and 90 bucks.

I seem to remember someone at arfcom say that olympic made a reversable safety, I dont know if they still make it. DPMS makes an ambi safety, available at brownells for around $20 IIRC.

I've heard good things about Stag, but have no first-hand experiance with them.

I built my A1 clone on a Stag lower. Top notch product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Stag Arms product again, upper or lower.

I built my Ar on a RRA lower and a righthanded Stagarms upper. The Stagarms upper had a great fit and finish. For break in I fired 750 rounds of PMC without a problem.

I would not hesitate to buy another Stagarms product.

I built my most recent AR on a Stag Arms lower receiver, it is absolutely first class!

I've built a couple up on stag lowers, great product. I've never used one of their uppers, because I usually buy a used upper at a gun show and not too many people have Stag uppers, and used bushy and RRA uppers are pretty price competitve with Stag.

The stag 1stage LPK is far better than anything else I've seen.

The Stag lower I used has a wonderful fit and finish, mating perfectly to DPMS upper.

I wouldn't think twice about buying more stag. In fact, I might just buy another receiver with my next paycheck. Thanks for the reminder. :)
