I was lookng at a shotgun news ad and saw these 2 pistols advertised. $140 and $100 respectively. Kinda thinking of getting one ot the other or both, mostly for a plinking/range use.

I'm not familiar with the Star, other than the fact that it's basically a 1911 clone. Are they decent? Any problems?

Same for the FEG, more or less a Walther PP, same thing , any well known problems or issues?

Those FEGs need a lot of work. Unreliable as delivered. The Stars are OK. You should expect to replace the springs and firing pins break with dry firing. If you have good mechanical skills and a good budget, they can both be made to function reliably.

I'd pay a little extra and get a Makarov over a PA-63. My dad has a Star Super-B, it has a rare FTE problem but is otherwise a great gun, very accurate. If you don't dry fire it then the firing pin will probably be ok, our hasn't broken yet after ~1000 rounds.

Star BM has a good rep, as long as you're not GunKid chopping and rechambering it to an unavaialable cartridge! Good gun with standard power rounds. The FEG PA63 ain't all that bad, but the one I tried had a terrible trigger pull....

The PA-63's are actually very nice well built guns. The only thing you really need to do to them is replace the recoil spring with a heavier weight one.Stars are OK until something breaks and then your'e screwed.A Hi-Point would be a smarter choice than the Star.
