since we now have the instant check system why can not you buy a gun from a state you dont reside in? i found a nice rifle in NE while i was there an couldnt buy it cuz i wasnt a resident. it would have cost more to have them ship it too an FFL an for them to resell or transfer it too me. how do you get around this LEGALLY!

I don't understand why you couldn't buy the rifle. As long as the sale was legal in your state of residence and the state you are buying in the sale is perfectly legal as far as the Feds are concerned.

im a Nevada resident. the rifle was in nebraska.

they will not sell you a rifle or handgun unless you are a resident of that state. an that is not just nebraska or nevada. its in Georgia an california an most other states ive been too.

I thought this restriction was handguns only, not rifles or shotguns via the fed rules.

Now, the states can have their own laws that say that you have to be a resident.

I know in GA, with official transfer papers to a base in GA, they will allow you to buy a handgun.
