I have a bunch of Wolf ammo in 9mm, and I'm thinking of getting the Charter Arms 9mm Pitbull.

Are there any issues with firing the steel cased ammo in a revolver?

The Pitbull doesn't use moonclips, but I'm also wondering if there are any issues with ejecting steel cased ammo - like with regular rimmed cartridges.

No reason I can imagine why it wouldn't work.

Like TonyT, I usually avoid steel cased ammo in semi-autos. Once I finish firing the steel and aluminum-cased stuff I have, I won't be buying anymore unless doing so becomes the only option.

I know the US made .45acp in steel case, and had a .45acp revolver. I have no proof, but I bet the two got together.

I reload virtually all my ammo thus only use brass. A number of years ago I was tempted to purchse some 9mm Wolf steel cased ammo when it was selling for $95 per 5000. I tried a box and experienced function failures in two of my 9mm's - also it was awfully dirty.

I ran 50 rounds of Federal .45 ACP through my ATI Commander. No problems.
I ran 100 rounds of steel cased Tulammo through it and ended up with a peened ejector and a FILTHY gun.

also it was awfully dirty

I can attest to steel case ammo running dirty. I think allot of that is because the steel doesnt expand and seal off gas blow by like brass. That would be less of an issue in revolvers. I do know that most steel cased ammo is also iron jacketed with a layer of copper about the thickness of two pieces of paper. I would be more worried about bore wear, big issue with a classic revolver not a huge deal on a semi auto with a throw away barrel.

I was told by my local gun range that bans Wolf ammo that the cores are a mix of lead, antimony and ground scrap metal - which includes iron and steel and the bullet fragments on impact and kicks up sparks.

They were worried about paper dust igniting.

I can vouch for the Wolf ammo kicking up sparks...
