I'm curious to know if Glock, or someone who makes aftermarket parts for Glock, makes a steel guide rod for their Gen 4 G22, one that uses the new RSA system.

Anyone know? Or am I just stuck with polymer?

It's a strange explanation, so bear with me. I don't like plastic.

I own a plastic firearm (the Glock), so you'd think I'd like plastic guns.

I know I don't need to worry about the guide rod melting, because the likelihood of me going through that amount of ammunition in one day, through one pistol, and even in under an hour, is unlikely.

I'd honestly rather have a steel guide rod though. But with the Gen 4 RSA.

The best way to get over your distaste of plastic would be to just get used to it. Shoot your Glock with confidence knowing that it works and will work for a very long time.

Happy Shooting :)

If you really need the real thing Id guess Wolfe springs in W Chester PA probably makes em.

The only thing the guide rod does in a Glock is to contain the recoil spring and ease installation. These aren't great slow motion video of a Glock firing, but you can still see the frame and guide rod flexing. This flex is why you don't want a metal guide rod. Plastic will flex or in an extreme case snap in half and fall out of the front of the pistol. A steel guide rod can bind, drag on the nose of the slide, or in a very extreme (and unlikely) case bend and deadline the gun.
