I have a Stevens 311R, 18" SxS and want to know what the choke size is for both bbls. They are not marked as near as I can tell. My guess is that both are open cylinder. If anyone knows for sure, I would really appreciate it.

Whatever the choke size, is it safe to shoot slugs, and if so what type would be best from an 18" tube?

Thanks for any info or suggestions.

311R have a Riot choke , which is cylinder or no choke TAPER. However the diameter of the barrel is not allowed to go oversize of specs. This is about a perfect slug bore , but you will have to check the regulation on the different sides point of impacts. Will be good for HD for sure and prolly good to 35 or so yards with slugs. Hint{ slug brands and tpes will vary greatly in impact, check them out and stick with what works best. Same with buck shot. Your gun is safe to shoot them all. I have a 311R from the 80's behind the seat in my motorhome.
