Hi all, I was just browsing the STI site and came across the Recoilmaster kit.

http://www.stiguns.com/
Follow menu to Products > Recoil Master and parts.

Does anyone have this in the 1911? Im curious to know if this makes a significant improvement and worth the $85. I have an older SA 1911 Standard, and while i can shoot it decently well Im always kind of curious if theres anything i can do to it without sending it out to a gunsmith to lessen the recoil.

Thanks all

Sean

I discover today the recoilmaster, better to say I used it for the first time.
I had previously a Trojan .45 with a full lenght rod and was fully satisfied. At this time I was reluctant to try anything else.
Now, I got a Rangemaster 9mm with a "light" recoilmaster. It worked flawlessly this afternoon. Remember, brand new gun. Went with a box of S&B 115gr FMJ, 25 handloads 125gr RN, 25 handloads 105gr SWC. Not any malfunction, I feel that this is due to 2 two steps recoilmaster. 9mm is quite "light" comparing to .45 and my 105gr is even weaker considering the heavy slide.
If you mix, full house shooting and light target load, It seems that this part could help.
If you have only one kind of shooting, a classical rod and a choosen spring will do the trick.

hey, i appreciate the input. Do you have any links to help me read up on the rod and spring manor?
