Ill start by saying that I have never built a rifle before and I am wanting to get a Howa barreled action. M1500 with a 24" heavy barrel (#6) in 243.

I am tryin to find a wooden stock that will work with the heavy barrel and not having any luck. Howa has a hogue stock that will fit the heavy barrel but I really would like wood. Anyone know where I can get a wood stock to fit a howa 1500 action and heavy barrel? Any help is appreciated.

I would think it wouldn't look good at all. The forearm would be really thin. Surely there is a company that makes stocks to fit howa heavy barreled actions.

Ah i didnt notice your comment about walnut, It would be rather thin with the forearm design they use. I was thinking the heavier varmint thumbholes. I had one of those, that i opened for a friends project gun.

you try richards microfit? http://rifle-stocks.com/actions_available.htm

Ive heard (and seen) some good things from them. Ive also heard of issues with their nagant stocks, but oddly nothing else.
