Just got back from the range shooting my new to me Stoeger Cougar 8000F ( 9mm). I have to say, It is a joy to shoot. I shot my reloads out of it in attempt to find a decent load for it.
Being they were starting loads and some were mid range loads, I have to admit that even compared to factory, This thing took them without a hitch. Not one hiccup with start loads or mid range loads. I was using fast powders and 124 Gr HP bullets. Such as TiteGroup and BullsEye for now. I have so many more to test.
Just wanted to see if it would malfunction but oh no, Not this guy. Took em all down like a champ. Spit out the spent cases from about 3-4 feet from where I was standing. That was a good thing as it got dark and way to hard to find brass!
Accuracy - Well, New gun to me so I normally was pretty bad. A lot of low and left shots. Some didn't even group and only 2 loads did group worth even bother trying to reload for. I think more range time and some snap caps should take care of that issue.
Trigger - I only shot it in SA mode. I don't care for DA mode right now. What I can tell you is that it does have some creep in it and the SA trigger wasn't to bad, Just a tad heavy. Could use a bit of work on that trigger. Then again, I was never a crack shot so take that for what it is worth.
Recoil - Like I said before, Took it like a champ. Factory rounds which were 115 Gr RN fed no problem and recoiled pretty well. I still prefer my reloads over it. Very nice recoil wise. I enjoyed it.
Sights - 3 dot Novak if I am not mistaken. Easy to line up and get you on paper.
Have no complaints about it.
Takedown - Man.....This thing is a joke to field strip. Putting it back together tho, You should pay attention because you need to line it up with the barrel due to it being the rotating kind.
Hand Fit - Comfy. Very comfy. Feels natural to me in my hands. Brother also likes it better than his Sig Sauer SP2022.
All in all, I have no qualms about buying this pistol and honestly think I made a good choice in buying it. I am happy with it and am now looking to get a good load for it and perhaps carry it since I already have a holster that fits it very well.
Also, I have one question. I am trying to find the rifling for this gun but am having a bit of a hard time finding it. I have the little bag with the spent case from factory and it has the rifling on it.
It says " Rifling: 6L 6G RH "
What does that mean? I would like to know also what weight would work best with this rifling if any one can help me out there, I greatly appreciate it.
