I am looking for a gun case (Single or Double) that can be used as a long term storage option.

A Grab-n-Go/BOB type of setup, Something that a nice rifle can live in when it is not being used.

I know it is bad to keep a rifle zipped in a soft case because it rusts the steel, but I'm hoping somebody makes a hard case that can safely store a rifle indefinately.

FYI...

I've stored my 870 wingmaster in a soft case since i've had the thing, over 33 years now, and it doesn't have a hint of rust. I believe that some of the concerns about soft cases have to do with the possibility of moisture getting to the gun thru a soft case. Naturally this is something to avoid, but presuming you have a dry & temprate place to store the gun, I doubt you'd have a problem. Although I don't get to use it that much anymore, it does get taken out and wiped down with a silicon cloth about twice a year, minimum. I've never had a problem.

You can store a gun in a foam-lined case (a hard case, of course), but it's very important to use closed-cell foam, not the usual open-cell kind. Open-cell foam will absorb moisture, and transfer it to your firearm. Closed-cell foam is non-absorbent, and won't hold moisture. Typically, closed-cell foam won't "fold" around your gun: you have to cut out the outline of the gun in the foam to get it into the case. If you then wrap the gun in a silicon-impregnated gun sock, and store it in a case with closed-cell foam, in a cool, dry place, you should have no problems.
