Hi,
can steel be shot through pretty much any modernish barrel as long as the choke is not too tight? I have an 1100 magnum with a fixed full choke and it's pretty much worthless since the non-toxic craze (unless I take up turkey hunting or trap shooting). So if I had it threaded for remchokes, could I shoot steel through it or is there another factor that needs consideration?

Tagged for reference. RC, do they do any other work, such as installing rifle sights on shotguns?

Hmmm... pricey. How much is a used rem-choke barrel?

This will come in handy when measuring my other fixed-choke 12s though.
MINIMUM OUTSIDE BARREL DIAMETER MEASUREMENTS FOR CHOKE INSTALLATIONS:
12 ga. lead shot and steel shot system .825

12 ga. lead shot system only, no magnum loads or steel .805

Hmmmmm..... this guy seems to have a very good repuation, and the price is more along the lines of what I'd feel comfortable paying... http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=36237

I realize that corson's price includes 3 chokes, so perhaps that's where the extra cost comes in.

thanks for the heads up rcmodel... I imagine I'll be sending someone a couple of barrels soon.

If you get the right extended tube, you can shoot steel thru even the thinwall systems. Remington says all their barrels since 1950 are okay for steel - unlike Browning re: any Belgian barrels.
