Im quoting this from another forum member in an different thread. I thought I would bring the discussion to the appropriate subforum.
Im looking at loading up sub-sonics for my M1A and I heard this in a discussion about the M1A:
My thoughts....
Trail boss has a density of .328 g/cc. 8.8 gr of trail boss in a 308 with a 150 gr bullet (flat base round nose) will fill 46% of the case. It will be stable in a 1:12 and 1:10 and is subsonic.
How will this same load perform in a 1:12 twist 24" tube?

When I shoot subsonics in mine, handracking is required.
For subsonics I use 8.8 grains of trailboss and sierra 150 grain flatpoint 30-30 bullets.
