I have a new 243 bolt action coming in. I have loaded some 100 gr. deer loads already. I want to load a coyote round now. I have 80 gr. NBT, and 70 gr. Sierra hpbt matchking. Powders I have are Varget, H4350, RL19, H380. What load would you suggest with these components? I would like a good amount of speed and accuracy.

I love H380. Meters like butter. I can set the Uniflow and load hundreds of rounds if I wanted without touching it.
I use it in anything I can.

I've found it to be plenty accurate too. I've found MOA loads in .30-06, .308 and .243 with it.

For .243 I like 37 grains and an 85 grain SGK BTHP. That load is pretty much right in the middle of Hodgdon's load data and my wife's Ruger M77 loves it. Hits deer hard too.

I would not use the MatchKing bullet unless you are 100% sure you can make a head shot at the distances you are hunting. That bullet is not meant for hunting.

I agree, H4350 would be my choice.

Just a note, don't make up more than a handful of rounds before you get the rifle. You never know what bullet that rifle will like or which charge or the OAL and all the other things that effect accuracy. No reason to have 40 or 50 rounds made up and find out your rifle hates that combination.

+1
I like to make 5 of each round (in case I have a flyer) and go from there.
Heck, try several combinations, within published data of course and see what your gun likes best.

Also, listen to ArchAngel and don't use those Matchkings for hunting. That's what Gamekings are for.

The only load I had for my .243 that was specifically for critters like a yote used the 60gr Sierra Blitzking over a healthy dose of H-380. It shot little clover leaf groups at 200yds and had "red mist" written all over it.

I never had anything I put one on, take another step, but I also wasn't going to get anything for what was left of the hides.

Too bad you don't have any RL17, cause that's a better powder for the 100 gr. bullets than RL19 IMO. But you'll still do fine with 19 for the 100 gr. bullets.

With the 70's and 80's I would go with H380, it's great for those bullet weights. I have been using a lot of Varget lately, and it has been getting the job done very well.

I am going to try 40.0 gr. Varget, 80 gr. Nosler BT. OAL 2.680" Sellier &Belloit chech primers, Win brass. We'll see how it goes!

have you noticed any temperature sensitivity in the field with h380

I haven't noticed any in the heat and I've shot quiet a bit in the summer months.
In the winter, it doesn't get that cold here so I don't know if I'm qualified to give an opinion on that. I don't do much target shooting in those months, but I've never missed a deer with it, so the accuracy doesn't degrade that much. Whether or not the groups would have opened up a little, I don't know.

That would be an interesting experiment.

H380 should follow H450 (Discontinued). IMO. Depending on the lot, deterrents
/ coatings to control burn rate, can make it hard to light. Use a magnum primer.

picked up new to me powder

Picked up a pound of 4831. Anyone load 4831 for 243? Can you suggest a bullet for loading with 4831?

.243 Win.

Yes. 95 gr. Nosler Bal.Tip, Hornady SST, Speer BTSP, and Rem. PSPCL all work very well in my Ruger RL77 and I've taken deer with all of them.

Noslers are pricey though. I can usually get sierra and hornady at 100 rds for the price of 50 nosler.
