First of I think you should get 2 knives, well for me I would, I never skinned/cleaned an animal except for fish, so I figure you want a good solid always sharp blade that is made specificly for cleaning animals. I always thought they looked something like this, not your everyday knife. Just my unexperienced understanding. (maybe its a myth tho, I don't know, I just know I'd baby a skinning knife, sharpness seems important!)
I would then spend $10 on a CheaperThanDirt Rough Use Knife, it's cheap, extremely durable, and did I mention $10? I got 2 and just throw them around everywhere using them for EVERYTHING, sad to even say opening paint cans. U can abuse it chopping limbs, picking at a fire, cracking a coconut, whatever. If you break it (difficult to do) or lose it, it's only $10. There are a number of knives that are tougher but usually 1000% more expensive. I always check out knifetest.com this guy is funny, a little off the wall but he sure test out a bunch of knives in EVERY way possible. I think the Busse's are great!
