Suggestions for upgrading a Sig for competition set up.

What can be done to upgrade my stock 9mm P229 for steel challenge/USPSA/IPSC competition? Does a 'trigger job' cause FTF like it can on revolvers? I know guys have their Glocks all doctored, but I'm keeping and using my Sig. So, where should I begin?
 
I have my P226 in Bruce Gray's shop right now.
I will report on it and plug or pan it when it gets back which is scheduled for sometime this month.
It will have his Competition Only short reset light pull action job and fibre optic sights. I will use it for nothing but IDPA, the P220 with Teddy Jacobson duty action job will keep the home defense assignment.

I am sure Bruce will do a duty action job that will not risk misfires like a limber spring revolver setup.

If you want to keep your warranty in effect, have a factory supported defense or duty weapon, and still improve the gun for matches, you could go with the AEP:

Thanks. Please keep us posted on Bruce Gray's custom work to your 226. I'll also keep the factory custom shop in mind. My used 229 has been back to the factory for new internals, etc. I had a local gunsmith put on a set of fiber optic sights. As long as my "older" eyes can see the sights, I should do fine.
 
Bruce does EXCELLENT work on SIGs. I've shot quite a few P226s AND p220that have been worked over by GGI, and you'll be pleasantly surprised how well they shoot.

Hey, I'll see the man himself next week anyways to shoot more :D
 
Well, I still have it. But, I'm discovering equipment and class selection is if'y at best with a 952. I've digested all your advice regarding competition shooting. The easiest solution is for me to use my Sig 229. No confusion as to class. Plus, I wasn't totally comfortable releasing the safety after pulling the gun from the holster position. Less movements needed with the Sig. In fact, just today I ordered a holster, mag holder and additional magazines. I also had my local gunsmith put on fiber optic sights. A steel challenge match has got me hooked to start. I hope to branch out from there. You were right. Once you shoot in a match, you're hooked...grab your credit card and sign on the line.
