My wife has difficulty handling a semi-auto (weak hands...tough to rack the slide) and is interested in ideas for a range/target revolver for just fun (as opposed to competition) shooting.

Suggestions?

Greeting's phorvick-

Persons will small and or weak hands should have no
problem handling the 4" barrel Smith & Wesson model's
15 or 67. Its a K-frame .38 special, with fully adjustable
target sights; that can usually be found at reasonable
prices.

I know of a small built lady out in the mid-west thats
in her 60's, that shoots a 6" Smith K-38 Masterpiece
with authority!

D-framed Colts are good for small hands also, but some are pricey. The 4" Diamondback is a great revolver for a small handed shooter.

I agree with Ala Dan and Majic. You can't beat a midframe .38 Special for a first centerfire for a new shooter, especially one with small/weak hands.
The Ruger SecuritySix is also a fine choice.
One of the best things about the mid-frame .38/.357 is the price of used ones, especially the police trade-ins.

What caliber? Is she totally against semi-automatics? Beretta has several small caliber/small frame sem-autos with tip-up barrels. Good choice. The Taurus J-frame size revolvers are OK and they have a 9MM revolver coming out soon. A genuine S&W J frame with a 3" barrel might be good. What about single action revolvers? Ruger makes a 32 S&W/32 H&R Magnum Vaqeurito (Single Six) revolver. Has she seen/handled any H&R 32s?
