Suppressor and Compensator?

Can you combine a compensator (muzzle brake, whatever) with a suppressor? I'm pretty sure that Jean Reno (or however you spell it) used this setup for his pistols in The Professional. It went something like:

PISTOL > COMPENSATOR > SUPPRESSOR

Would this work? Maybe the other way around?

If you were use a suppressor with a brake/compensator, the suppressor would need to fit over and surround the brake ports, since it is the release of hot gases that makes the gun so noisy. I've never seen an example on a pistol, but the Mk11 SPR is an example of a muzzle brake/suppressor combination.
