Supressor Question

I searched but couldn't find any info on a question I have about supressors, also I didn't know where to post it(I guess the NFA forum is somewhere near the C&R forum) so here goes.

I have a Walther P22, I bought the gun to eventually put a supressor on it, if I were to buy a suppressor could I legally also have the barrel of a .22 rifle that I own threaded to accept the suppressor?

Yes. Your registering the suppressor. It is a great idea to get one that can be used on multiple guns for max benefit. There is one company that makes quality adapters for quite a few guns to do just that.

Sorry, drawing a blank now. The adapters are about $65-85 each.

I was just spouting the merits of applying for a suppressor to the wifey the other day and mention of using those adapters making it compatible for other guns actually made here want me to buy "that one" universal suppressor. Man I'm a lucky guy.

The most economical way to suppress a Walther .22 is the Tac Inv can and adapter. The cans are going to run $200-$235, and the adpater is about $25. We sell them.

Since your paying the tax on the can itself, the ATF doesn't care what you stick it on.

The P22 is already threaded (unless you got a California-version). I bought a Tactical Innovations Tac52 suppressor, and they also make a thread adapter for it.

This adapter is threaded for 1/2 x 28 TPI, which matches a lot of US made suppressors.

All I need to do is remove the existing thread protector, screw on the adapter, then screw on the suppressor.

Also, most suppressor makers will have an appropriate thread adapter you can buy. Or you can buy the Tactical Innovations one if your suppressor is threaded for 1/2 x 28.

Get one anyway, Roccobro. We all know the real reason you want one is to conceal your crime anyways.

That article doesn't say anything specific about CA laws. I figured I have a close "working" relationship with the Sheriff, and some extra money, so why not just apply and see what happens? I can't get a definitive "no" from any local shops, but then again not many people test the limits in California at any regular intervals.

But your right, I need to research more before proceeding.

I've got a can with oddball threads, so they're making me a couple of custom adapters. Prices are reasonable. Turnaraound was 4-5 weeks on the custom, I'd assume it's shorter for stock items.

(b) The possession of silencers by regular, salaried, full-time peace officers who are employed by an agency listed in Section 830.1, or by the military or naval forces of this state or of the United States when on duty and when the use of silencers is authorized by the agency and is within the course and scope of their duties.
(c) The manufacture, possession, transportation, or sale or other transfer of silencers to an entity described in subdivision (a) by dealers or manufacturers registered under Chapter 53 (commencing with Section 5801) of Title 26 of the United States Code, and the regulations issued pursuant thereto.
