I haven't seen much surplus ammo in 9mm for years. Most of the stuff you see is US and European manufacture later than 1950, boxer primed and not corrosive. Some of the very early Communist block ammo may be mildly corrosive as some of the Egyptian SMG ammo that was sold for a while maybe 15 years ago but that's been unavailable for a long time and mostly been shot up by now. I suppose its possible to run into some of it from an estate sale.
There's nothing wrong with shooting corrosive primed ammunition, you just have to clean your gun after use. Corrosive ammo residue attracts moisture from the air and that's what causes the corrosion, no corrosion or damage to the gun is caused by simply firing the ammo if cleaned within a reasonable time after firing.
