I recently purchased a used Rem 700 VLS .223 (circa 2002), put a Nikon 6.5 - 20 Monarch scope on it and I'm getting sub .4 MOA (.306 - .386") groups with my reloads (27 grns Varget pushing a 55 grn Nosler BT, buried .015" into the lands). My friends say that is almost unheard of from a stock factory rifle; are they correct?

Yea thats impressive. I have the same rifle in 22-250 and the best I can get is .8 or so with reloads. I am going to do some tweeking on it with a gunsmith friend of mine so we'll see.

I had great results with a VLS in .223. That is one I should never had traded! Since then I aquired a 700LTR and 700SPS , both .223s and amazingly accurate.

Your results are especially impressive using the vamint bullets. A lot of shooters would be pleased to shoot that well with match bullets. I'll have to try those Noslers sometime.

I've got a 700VLS also in .223, also made in 2002. They made some fantisic shooters that year. Single hole groups if I do my part.

My load is 22 1/2 gr. of 2015, with a 53 gr. sierra match bullet
