I just bought a Venture a few weeks ago in .243. I worked the bolt in the store and it was nice and smooth. When I got it to the range, I found that the bolt handle was hard to lock down when feeding a live round. I shot 2 different factory loads that day and the problem was the same for both brands of ammo. The bolt slides forward and backwards just fine, but is very sticky when trying to push the bolt handle down to lock it. I actually have to give it a whack with my palm to get it to close. Besides the sticky bolt, I absolutely love the gun. I sent an email to T/C over a week ago and still haven't heard a word back from then. Just curious if others are having this problem. Any ideas what would cause this? I'm assuming it's a head spacing issue.

It sounds like a tight chamber, and should not be an issue. It may loosen up after a time as you run more rounds through it.
A tight chamber is more acceptable than a loose chamber, and may actually help with accuracy. Match rifles often have tight chambers.
I would push TC to answer your email to see what they say about the situation.

If it's still tight, and you want to use it for hunting, I would run the ammo through the action to make sure it chambers before taking into the field. A couple drops of oil on the locking lugs may ease the problem a bit as it breaks in.

I will be calling T/C and see what they say. The rifle is certainly useable, but it's a huge annoyance. It could very easily cost me a follow up shot in a hunting situation.
