I was trying to take some nice photos of my Savage, 99CD my nicest looking rifle, and found it to be vastly more difficult than shooting photos of handguns.

They are too long, duh. Here are my attempts.

Let's see your good long gun photos.

Here's my SAR-1 as it was a few years ago. Polyurethane over black ink for the wood. :barf: Has since been refinished with BLO and a torch.

It's hard to get good quality pictures unless you have the right equipment, lighting and such. Here are a couple pictures I have taken. One is pretty good and the other only so so. One is a Winchester 94 AE BB in 356 Winchester Limited Edition 1 or 400 made for the RMEF and the other is a Sako AV in 375 H&H with a 20" barrel.

The equipment I used for the first two was an Olympus E-10, sunlight, and Photoshop 5.0 LE.

The last ones? Same Olympus E-10, but this time on my fold-out couch with black sheets. Lighting was a $20.00 floor lamp from Wal-Mart. Historigram (sp?) and color tweakage courtesy of same Photoshop.

Did this directly on a scanner, using photo app to stitch.

....mmmmmm Glenfiddich, had the 15 and the 18 but I like the 12 the best.
oh... sorry... keep on topic... can't tell what the rifle is in the 4th pic.
and a great job on the 3rd pic, wonderful lighting.

Try it with an old lever action or side by side shotgun and send it to them.
You might get it published.

MZMTG,

For some reason, that third pic of your USP reminds me of a song...

"She's a brick --mmh!-- house,
She's mighty mighty, jus' lettin' it all hang out..
Aww, she's a brick... house!
I like ladies stack'd, and thassa fact.."

Seriously. That's one businesslike mug that Aitch-and-Kei is wearin'. Excellent pic.

I'd have to say that I like the Solera Reserve a lot, but my favorite scotch is Lagavulin 16. Unfortunately, the prohibitive cost keeps me from getting much. :(

The "rifle" in the last picture is actually a shotgun; Winchester's counter-bid to the Browning A5, the 1911 SL. Horrible gun. I never fired it due to too many stories of it going off on its own while charging. :uhoh: It was photogenic, though.

Who's "them?"

Oh yah, Lagavulin, good one. Have you tried Aberlour 18? Very good,
rather pricy though. Smells rather fruity but does not taste it. Shame
the good things in life can be so expensive. :(

going off on its own
ooo, that's scary...

Who's "them?"

"Them" is Glenfiddich, could make a great add. Hell, they might even pay you.

Hey mzmtg clean your .40 :neener:

I have a decent little digicam with a good macro setting, but lighting is still a huge issue for me. If I wasn't in an area where I'd get the cops called on me for totin' outside, I could get some nice outside pics.

Here are my latest indoor attempts:

A mag light is not the best suplemental lighting, but sometimes the windows can give enough light. The flash really drowns out some of the detail.

Easy, I'm holding them when the picture is taken.

BAWwithSKS.jpg

That is me with "short" hair and my Yugo 59/66 SKS last winter. (I have the "hippy" look now. :D ) I have added a 4x scope to it since the front sight is frozen and it shoots a couple inches to the right @ 100 yds. (Yes I have the tool, it still won't move)

KaceCoyote, LMBO. I love it - a plastic/stainless modern semi-auto gun done in retro black & white style - basically, the pic is making fun of itself, ha.
