I am taking my Kentucky CCDWL class in the morning and the class is 6 1/2 hours long, what should I expect, the instructor says 1 box of ammo will be plenty but I am taking 2 just incase. Any tips for class.

Tango,

Ok, I pulled out my manual from the class I took in April.
Here is the training schedule from the manual...
8am - Orientation, Paperwork, Safety
9am - KY Statutes on Firearms & CCDW Video
10am - Use & Misuse of Force Video & Legal Liability Video
11am - Safety In the Classroom, On the Range & At Home
12pm - Lunch
1pm - Principles of Marksmanship
2:30pm- Pistol & Revolver Nomenclature & Function
3:30pm- Live Fire Exercises & Cleaning your weapon
4:30pm- Written Test

Live fire will be 20 rounds @ 7 yards 11/20 is required to pass
(you get 1 do over if you fail)

Written test 70% required to pass.
I don't remember exactly about the written test, I do remember it was multiple choice, no trick questions, I wanna say it was 25 questions

You will also need a cleaning kit.

My class was pretty fun, instructor was a very good speaker and entertaining - the videos are bland but full of important info.

Good luck

Oh yeah, I got my permit exactly 6 weeks from the day I took my class. Class on April 23rd & 24th picked up Permit on June 4th.

No, we did it over two days it was 5:30pm to about 8:45pm each night. Some people brought dinner in. I imagine everybody just breaks and comes back after lunch, there is one place in town that I'm pretty sure orders pizza for everybody but they give you the option when you sign up for the class.

Where are you taking the class?

Here in Wayne County at the local sportsmans club and it last from 7:00am - 1:30pm and is given by a retired game warden. He said gun, ammo, glasses, cleaning kit, and ear plugs but he didn't mention lunch  .

Prepare to be bored if they still have that old film of the guy reading the KRS! It will bore you to tears. It has been several years since I got mine. A blind man could do the shooting part of it (11 rounds out of 20 on a B-27).
