Hi all, this is my first post for quite some time, and unfortunately I have a problem.

I was aware of this problem before I purchased. I thought I had fixed this. The cylinder keeps falling out after firing. I disassembled the side plate but the crane, cylinder retaining pin, spring, and screw didn't look like they were damaged. Still though, when I shoot or even push into the cylinder real hard, it clicks out of place and the whole crane can slide out of the frame. I'm thinking that the crane retaining pin pin just isn't doing the job, but as I said, there is no damage to any of the relevant components. With the cylinder locked into place it still cycles just fine, lines up with the barrel and doesn't bind or anything like that. Tightening that screw too much causes the cylinder to bind, but the less tight the screw is, the easier the cylinder is to push out. Any pointers?

I suggest you take it to a gun smith. I've owned several model 85s over the years and never even heard of a problem like this.
My guess is there is a spring missing, but if you bought the gun with this problem, you may not even realize something is missing.
BTW, I'm pretty sure you can download a manual for your 85. Just go to the Taurus USA website. The manual does have an exploded view listing all the parts. I do not recommend you disassemble the gun any more then you already have. Let a smith do it, or send it back to Taurus. They have an excellent warranty but disassembling may void that warranty.

send it back. they will fix it and youll know its safe. they arent the fastest on warranties but ive never been happier when its been needed.

That's frustrating. I'm one of those people that doesn't like to send in machines or electronics like that for service. Allright thanks.
