Well, mine's not stainless, but it is the concealed hammer version.

I've been thoroughly pleased with my M85CH, to the point of it having served as my carry revolver until I purchased my K9.
They're about as underrated as a revolver can get,IMHO.

Thanks snowdog thats a relief to hear I bought it as one of those impulse buys then I been reading this forum on taurus and it sounds like everyone hates them and thinks they are junk. After reading all the taurus bashing I am thinking of trading it in on a smith even though I like the taurus ust fine I am concerned it will fail when I need it.

Mastinson, hang on to that Taurus, and enjoy it! Sure, there are some problem Tauri out there, and many (including myself) have had problems with Taurus' customer service: but on the other hand, there are plenty of very good Tauri, and if you have one of them, there's no reason to be unhappy. Even though I prefer S&W and Colt snubbies, I still own a Taurus 85 Lightweight, and carry it with confidence now and again.

All of my Taurus wheel guns have performed perfectly. No problems whatsoever. Now I am considering adding a 905 to the collection....

I've had the blue model since 1998. It groups best with 148 gr WC. Anything else and it's all over the target.

My friend "Lightsped" is a true believer...:)

And he's got good reason to be. I've got three Tauri and each one has been perfect. In fact, the triggers are at least as good (I would say better) than most of my newer Smith & Wessons. The newest edition is a Multi-Alloy 85. It's just plain beautiful. Taurus is able to make their titaniunm parts (like the cylinder) smooth and handsome. My wife carries a Total Ti 85. It's been perfect since the first shot. SHHhhhh! ~I'm giving her the NIB Multi-Alloy and some Crimson Trace laser grips as two of her Christmas gifts.:) IMHO, Taurus is striving to make better & better pistols. I can see it in the workmanship of things like the "ratchet star". On the new Multi, it's absolutely perfect.

My carry piece.

Had an early failure which Taurus fixed tout suite. No trouble since then.

I dressed it up with a set of Barami Hip-Grips for those times I want to go aux Mexicano. Carry it in a Don Hume IWB most of the time. Barami works fine when walking the dogs.

I run 25+ rounds a week through it with no evidence of trouble. I just wish the trigger was a bit smoother and lighter.

All in all its a reliable carry piece.

I had the 85CH SS before they were +P rated. It was very reliable and accurate with the now defunct Nyclad ammo.I used a few hundred +P through it and loosened it up a bit more than I should have.
Presently, I have the 85TT and like it better, although the ball detent front lockup is not as tight as I think it should be......but it gets a regular +P and +P+ diet,so I can't complain too much.

I bought two at a gun show some years back. My son now has one. I have carried this little snubbie often, and it is a favorite fun gun at the range. No problems with either 85CH. On several hikes on the AT, I carried this in my pocket.
Favorite loads are Winchester White box 125 JHP, and Federal Hydroshock 129 grain JHP

shoot great

I shot it tonight put 50 rounds win white box and 20 rounds of win silvertips(my carry rounds) and the little gun did great I think taurus has really worked on their quility, lockup is tight, the star is perfectly cut, gap at forceing cone is tight maybe to tight but it dont touch the cylinder. My only complaint is the cheap looking trigger its like hollow were most are thick and solid but it should hold up. Just curious does anyone own a taurus with a lot of round thru it, and also is there a easy way to remove the cylinder? Also on a side note this gun will probably see 50 or less rounds a year thru it how many years would u guys guess it to last?

I had a 85ss and now have a 650. I loved the stainless but wanted a concealed version and 357 beats 38. I like them both well enough to carry and will never get rid of the 650 now, wish I still had the 85, but my brother needed it more.

I LOVE MY 85

I have and M85 and I've shot the sh*t out of it. I broke a part on it and I sent it to Taurus and they fixed it and sent it back. Only thing I had to pay was shipping. It now is on beater status in my truck. But I still love it thou.

I carry my 650 day in and day out, even mistakenly shot a couple of my "contender only" reloads thru it once (I gotta start marking things better) . Very accurate for what it is. Now the wife has one just like it, but stainless.

I have 3 m85 one is the CH85 in Stainless it has the smotthest trigger of all my revolvers. Next time you go to the range try trigger cocking, probably not tactically sound in a real situation, but you can get SA accurracy and with practice it almost becomes second nature. It also is my everyday carry gun.

try trigger cocking

I guess some M85CHs won't allow you to do that. That's one of the first things I tried after purchasing my M85CH... no go.
Afterwards, I wished I hadn't purchased the spurless hammer model, that is until I discovered the merits of the concealed hammer (snagless rapid presentation, a must for CCW).

I feel pretty good!

Today, my wife put her new "Multi-Alloy" 85 with the Crimson Trace grips in her concealment purse. Then, she turned to me and remarked, "THIS is my FAVORITE Christmas gift".

I have an older 1970's S&W M36 snub as well as a Rossi snub and a Taurus 85. The two Brazillian pieces are about 10 years old, mid-90's.

The Taurus and Rossi are every bit the equal of the Smith. I used to shoot them more than the Smith to 'save' the Smith from wear.

In doing so I broke 'em in to where they're as smooth as the M36, at half (or less) the price.

Great thing about a 175.00 gun: you don't mind the carry wear.

I put down the wrong model number its really a 850 CIA, i'm glad to hear not everyone hates them does anyone have any experiance with this model? Also the binding problems i'm hearing is it because of the tight bore to the chamber mine is tight but a dollar bill will fit between it, is this still to tight?

I put another hundred rounds thru it yesteday and it done fine probably wont get shot much more I just wanted to make sure it was reliable. My only problems are it shoots low, and the cylinder walls being so thin kinda scares me ,they are really thin, does the small frame smiths also have a very thin wall?
