The biggest complaint I hear about the Taurus Model 94 is the DA trigger pull being incredibly heavy.

Is the rest of the gun good to go when shouting in SA or should the gun be avoided all together?

Even if it's heavy it's a good gun. Don't be afraid of it. Even if it's abnormally heavy you can buy a $40 spring kit to lighten it. It's not too hard to do, lots of YouTube videos on the topic. All of the guns are made very similar so if you can't find a video on the 94 look for one on the 85.

Because of the thickness of the rim in a .22 case it is harder to ignite the priming compound then in center fire cartridges. So stronger mainsprings are required, especially in small-frame revolvers. Messing with the springs will often lead to misfires.

I use mine in SA and lightened the trigger pull to a very pleasant and crisp 2&1/4 lb SA pull. It is not reliable in DA as I have it set up now.

Do I care ? NO ! I don't need my .22LR for anything but plinking and taking small game. Both are best done, and more accurately done in SA. Reloading with the swing out cylinder beats the crap out of having a SA only gun.

I am very happy with my M94 Taurus.

Had one many years ago, and used it to train my (then-)wife to shoot. She was fairly petite, and had no problems with the trigger pull.

I liked the gun, and wish I had another one. I let her keep it when we divorced.

I like my old taurus 94 circa 1997. I have sent hundreds of bricks of .22 lr down range with it and the trigger is just fine, no different than any j frame smith.22lr.. If you find the DA too heavy excersize your trigger finger a bit by shooting it more... My childre learned to shoot a revolver with it and were able to manage the DA trigger just fine at age 7 and 8. I also use it for new shooters along with my ruger MKII.
