Taurus 9mm revolver

This could just be internet rumor mongering, but what I've heard is that the half moon clips required to hold the 9mm are 1. A pain in the butt and easy to lose, and 2. Only available from Taurus which has a very spotty reputation for providing parts. If you do get one, hoarde those clips like the zombie armies are amassing!

But this could all be heresay, I've never touched one. Maybe there is some way to use them without the clips? I dunno...

I have one of the Taurus 9MM revolvers. The model I have is this one:

They are currently discontinued, but they do pop up from time to time at shows and as you have seen on Gunbroker.

I bought mine because well, I wanted a 9MM revolver and Taurus was the only company that had recently produced one that was reasonably priced. It fires ok, recoil is kind of sharp, but that's to be expected out of a 2 inch snubby barrel. Think of firing .38 SPL +P ammo and you are getting close to what the recoil is like in one of these.

Taurus "Stellar Clips" while nice, are NOT required to fire ammo in this revolver. Just pop the ammo in the cylinder and it functions similar to a Smith and Wesson model 1917 in terms of where the headspace of the cartridge is. The "Stellar Clips" hold the ammo loosely and I generally use them just for range practice.

I HAVE had some trouble with it to the tune of the cylinder not locking when placed back in the frame, and the cylinder getting "wobbly" after use. And, after taking off the sideplate, I found metal shavings in the action. Some compressed air took care of that issue.
For the record, I don't shoot +P Ammo in any of my guns simply because I feel it beats up the gun too much, and cost of ammo isn't going down anytime soon. I am getting ready to send it into the shop and take advantage of that lifetime warranty.

All in all, this is the only Taurus I will end up keeping of the 7 that I have had simply because no one else out there has anything like this in the price range that I wanted.

If you want one, go ahead and grab one. Those auction prices seemed reasonable to me. I paid a little under 400 for mine out the door at my FFL.
