I know Taurus copies their revolvers from S&W and they use Beretta designs for some of their autos.

But what about autos like the 24/7 or PT-940, or the Millenium series?
Are they Taurus-designed? They dont look familiar to me as being copies.

Anybody know?

I always thought that the PT-940 and PT-945 were their Beretta copies modified to use the Sig barrel hood locking system. They look like an enclosed slide Beretta to me(those two specific pistols that is).

AFAIK everything that's come out of them in recent years have been home grown. They've grown into a real firearms company and no longer a liscenced manufacturer of other companies products and haven't been for quite some time.

They now have their own R&D programs and develop their own firearms. Until they got a flood of hate mail they even joined the SmartGun development program for a short while. I'm one of the letter writers that helped them change their mind. I've since bought one of their revolvers :)

The PT9** series guns were an evolution of what Taurus learned from Beretta, Sig and their own design thrown in. I think its one of the slickest guns made.
The one pictured is the 945.......the 940/957/911 are all double stacks and have a straight grip/back strap. The single stack 45 is curved.......

Shoot well.
