I'll just tell you now that your gonna get plenty of both. General consensus though usually seems to be that the spongy/gritty trigger leaves something to be desired. Some past models had numerous problems with the polymer frame cracking but according to Taurus that was due to a faulty polymer mix and has been worked out. I've heard from lots of people who really like theirs as well.

Get the Milinnium PRO model. This is the newest model and has had most of the kinks worked out of it. Great gun. My 145 has functioned flawlessly and can hit the target every time. Not a tack driver, but it's actually better than most guns in its class. The 145 takes Para Ordnance High-Caps as well. Good to know.

I own 2 PT111's.

Buy the Millenium PRO.

I like mine, but I have a lot of time in smoothing out the internals of the firing pin and firing pin channel by hand. The earlier models will smooth out on their own eventually, but that eventually is generally interpreted to be on the order of 5000 dry-fire cycles or more.

The MilPro trigger is several orders of magnatude better out of the box. Badger is quite correct; it does seem like it is a better gun than the price would reflect. It is NOT a target pistol. I do pretty good to get minute of paper plate at 10 yards with either of mine. The trigger work does make that better, but why put all the work in when you can buy the Pro and have it close to good-enough already.

There are a lot of folks who won't touch them with a ten-foot pole. I'm not one of those folks. If it is your first pistol, you could do better and you could do worse.

Remember, your mileage will vary.

Rabbit.

I have the pt 145 i have had a couple of feeding problems with it with my range ammo but no problems with the loading of my carry ammo 230gr golden sabers. The biggest problem i had was finding a hoster for it Galco makes one for this gun. It will also fit a glock 21 29 30. What state are you in if you are close enuf i will let you come shot mine.

I had a PT111, and loved it, what I hated was Taurus Customer Service. I was stupid and launched a recoil spring into the brush. It took me two months to get the spring, and a number of threatening phone calls and letters. I was very unhappy.

I'm in FL. I have been meaning to Sell and/or Trade in my PT92 for a much compact as a Carry. I don't mind carrying Full-size (which I have for years).

I visited my local Dealership last night and they do perfer the PRO series. I kinda like it too. The PRO has a shorter pull than the regular PTs. I like the PT145 Mill.

And yes, I do have to agree that Taurus' Customer Service stinks! I called and asked about my pistol and they can't tell me anything about it...I told them, "You make my pistol and you have no information about it?"

Oh, well...at least their gun's more reliable than their employees...

peace,

Do a search here for "PT-145" and you'll get a TON of information. I have a stainless 145 MilPRO and love it. It has always worked and is accurate enough for defensive purposes, which is why I carry it most everywhere. I also have a PT-99AF. I have had nothing but good luck with it for over 15 years.Unless you have monetary considerations, don't trade the 92- get both.:D

Thumbs up on the Mil Pro and even more so on the 145. 900+ rounds and still ticking.

I had a PT140 Millenium. It was a good gun with no problems to speak of other then me. I just could't get used to the gritty trigger. If I was more of a hands on fixit kind of guy I would have spent the time to work out the kinks in it. I did find a gun that I prefered so I traded in the 140. It was a great gun to cary and fit in the same holster as my M40.

I had a PT-111 for almost two years as my daily carry. Until last weekend. It broke the slide stop for the second time in less than a year. I was shooting WW 115gr range ammo. It was a great gun. It would feed anything I loaded into it.
I had done a few mods to improve the trigger, mag release and grip, and had it just about fine. But I felt after having to replace the slidestop twice in 10 months, I could no longer trust it for carry. After it broke the first time I kept a spare. What was I thinking?? I will say that after the first one broke Taurus had me a replacement in 3 days. I know that must be a speed record for their customer service, but I actually have had pretty good luck with them. Maybe it's because the reps I have always delt with have been women. Need I say more????

My PT-111 (non-PRO) has had zero failures of any kind in over 2000 rounds. It was my primary carry gun for more than 5 years until the day I picked up a Kahr P40 and fell in lust with it. The 111 is still my backup gun and will always be found within arms reach in a map pocket, desk drawer, or other easy-to-reach spot.

As others have said the 111 is not a tack driver. At best it's only accurate to about minute-of-badguy, which is perfectly acceptable given the defensive purpose of the design. The loooooooonnggg trigger pull takes some getting used to, and is unforgiving of shooters who jerk their shots. In fact, I've used it to on several occasions to teach "jerky" shooters how to squeee-e-e-e - e - e - ze the trigger. When they got to the point that they weren't pulling shots on the 111, I transitioned them back to their own guns and they were amazed at how much more accurate and precise their shot placement was.

One of the best things about the 111, especially from a defense standpoint, is the true second-strike capability. Although it's rare these days, it's still possible to get a light strike or hard primer. It also means that there is no tension on the striker until you pull the trigger so, along with the striker block and manual safety, it would take an extraodinary (and statistically improbable) string of events for the 111 to fire without the trigger being purposely pulled.

It's not a perfect gun by any means, but it does make a dandy defense gun that doesn't cost and arm & leg and goes bang every time.

Very sorry, but I can't speak from experience cuz
I NEVER have and NEVER will own a personal Tauri
sidearm! If you like 'em, and got a good one; then
I'm most happy for you! But, I just NEVER could
warm up to their "Limited LifeTime Warranty"!

Best Wishes,
