Taurus Ti Tracker .357 - Ported

While out looking at guns today my friend really liked the Taurus Tracker Titanium .357 with 4" bbl. Here's a Pic:

It's ported, but he's not using it for home defense - I understand a ported gun indoors or in the dark is a bad idea with extra flash and noise. It's more of backpacking and range gun for him. Will the porting be good for this application? Does it really reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil? Are ported revolvers loud enough to annoy people at the range?

I don't think porting serves any particular application, but I'm sure it would be fine.

It's not going to be window shattering noise or anything, and there will definitely be rifles and even other handguns louder than a .357mag. Noise at the range is not really a factor. Everyone has ear protection. I would say no. Will not annoy people.

Louder though, more holes to clean, maybe lower velocity, etc for a little less barrel hop. Alot of people just don't prefer it. Especially with a .357. What is the weight on that thing?

24.3 oz. The plain stainless model is only 4 oz heavier so he may choose to go that route. But for backpacking a light gun really is nice. 7 shot capacity too.

He was also considering the .41 mag model, but it only holds 5 rounds and the cost of ammo is pretty high for a .41.
