I have a early 1970's contender in 22 hornet, The barrel is from TC about 10 years old. I hav'nt shot it in a long while. When I did it would splater paint balls at 100 yards. Today I went to the range and tried a few loads. The first was 10.0 grains of IMR 4198 in a Rem nickel cases, with a 50 grain VMAX, 2.018 OAL just touching the lands, the first 2 rounds 1/2 inch, I waited a few minutes and fired 2 more, they hit abour 5 inches below the first 2 rounds, the barrel felt a lil warm. I don't remember when I shot it before if I let the barrel cool down between shots. Years ago with 40 grain VMAX's I would get 5 shot 1/2 inch groups. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

.22Hornet.

I have .22 Hornet BRNO 110 break open action-rifle and T/C Contender-pistol. Vihtavuori N-110, Hodgdon H 110 and IMR 4227 are the best powders for those guns.
Next 2 shots 5" below after first 2 shots. It is much too much because cleaning. Was next shots also 1/2".croups too?
I think, you must to check the scope, all screws and mayby your loads.
