TC Encore

What are the legalities surrounding the TC Encore? I have seen pistol grips, short barrels, etc all for the Encore.
Do you have to get one as a pistol or rifle and leave it that way?
Get a tax stamp as an SBR or SBS?
It just seems like the draw of all that modularity would be nixed by NFA requirements.

If you buy it as a rifle, it has to stay that way.
If you buy it as a handgun, you can go to rifle. Or back to pistol. You can always go longer not shorter.
But always be sure to check your local, and state laws first.
